POTSDAM -- A car pedestrian accident Thursday at 1:36 a.m. on State Route 56 sent a Potsdam man to Fletcher-Allen Medical Center in Burlington, VT for treatment of head injuries, according to St. Lawrence County deputies.
Deputies said Natalie G. Plunkett, 26, 575 Sissonville Rd., Potsdam, was driving south during heavy rain and observed Christopher L. Deshane, 36, 645 Sissonville Rd., as he was in the road.
Police said Plunkett attempted to avoid him and sideswiped Deshane.
Deshane was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital and later transferred to Fletcher-Allen Medical Center deputies said.
The sheriff's department said they were assisted by Potsdam Fire and Rescue, Potsdam Police, and the New York State Police.
The investigation is continuing, according to deputies.
