FINE -- A man struck and injured by a car last Saturday night might have been hit by a truck before that.
Ian B. Brown, 36, of Oswegatchie Trail Road, was down on the Oswegatchie Trail Road when Gregory A. Peabody, 53, also of Oswegatchie Trail Road, tried to avoid him but struck him with his vehicle.
State police said this afternoon that they are looking into the possibility that he might have been hit by another vehicle earlier, which would explain why he was down in the road when Peabody came along.
But troopers said that fact had not been established yet by their investigation.
Brown said this morning that he is not doing too badly and might be released from Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse within a couple of days. He sustained serious injury and was taken to the Syracuse hospital from Clifton-Fine Hospital early Sunday.
Brown said he believed he was hit by a truck as he walked home, but didn't remember much after that.
An earlier state police report said he had been hit by Peabody's car as he lay in the road, but there was no mention of a truck in that summary.
Brown says he sustained broken bones, lacerations and bruises.
