OGDENSBURG – Work on the Paterson Street project ‘punch list’ will cease until spring.

The massive $7.5 million project began in 2014 and was largely federally funded, though taxpayers did chip in roughly $900,000.

The project included the removal of 54 trees, widening the street, separating the storm sewer system from the combined sanitary system, sidewalk work, drainage improvements and other goals.

While the majority of the work was wrapped up some time ago, many punch list items are still being worked on.

Among the bigger items was a drainage issue near the Burger King and State Highway 37.

In an update to the city council DPW Director Scott Thornhill additional drainage issues could also use some work.

“We are working through the details, but there is a possibility we might end up negotiating a price with the contractor to finish this work. Any price will ensure that all city costs are being met. The primary items to address are drainage issues around our drops.”

Thornhill says NYS Department of Transportation will have to determine whether they allow this portion of the contract to be closed and who will complete this work is it is their right of way.

The work has been performed by Sheehan Construction, while engineering was performed by Barton & Loguidice.
