HOPKINTON -- Jenna Converse, a 10th grade high-honor roll student at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School, has won first place in the AMVETS National Americanism Essay contest on the state level.
Her essay is now eligible to compete at the national level. Jenna will join a select group of students in Valley Forge, Pa. Nov. 4 to 7 at a seminar by the Freedom Foundation, which aims to give young people a better appreciation of the freedoms granted by the United States Constitution.
Programs are designed to provide an opportunity for students to participate in discussions with authoritative and articulate representatives from government, industry, and the academic community.
Regional first place winners receive an all-expense paid trip to the seminar. The Parishville AMVETS/Auxiliary 265 is also supporting Jenna’s trip.
Jenna is the daughter of Bill and Cindy Converse of Hopkinton.
