The 1994 Parishville Hopkinton School class president said this past weekend’s 20th reunion was a solemn affair after they learned of the death of their classmate, Kimberly (Randall) Barney, in a head-on vehicular collision in Ray Brook last week.
Robert King, a former Parishville-Hopkinton Central School classmate of the woman killed with her husband in that head-on collision, has started a GOFUNDME account for the Barneys' children to help with expenses.
The Barneys' 11-year-old daughter was seriously hurt in the crash, which occurred when a man fleeing police crossed into the opposing lane.
“I would like to raise awareness for this fundraiser and would appreciate your help,” said King, who graduated from P-H in 1994 and now lives in Troy.
King said “we literally had our 20 year reunion this past Saturday. Kim’s death came just a day and half prior to the reunion and, as one would expect, cast a sad tone for all of us.
“We (Parishville) are a small community and are deeply saddened by this loss,” King said in an email. “Our hearts are now with the family,” he said, and “Our fund will benefit the children. The more exposure we can give this the better for them.”
