AKWESASNE -- Lazore's Construction was on hand for another big night of racing with the Empire Super Sprints back in town and round #2 of the Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Series also on the card, it provide for some exciting racing throughout the night.

The Empire Super Sprints took to the speedway and points leader Justin Barger wasted little time flexing his muscle as he grabbed the lead early on with Michael Parent, Cory Sparks, Patrick Vigneault and Lance Yonge giving chase. Barger would continue o set the pace for the next 6 laps as just behind him Sparks and Parent staged at war for the #2 spot with Parent getting the advantage and quickly closed in on the race leader. On lap 9 Parent made his move on Barger to get the top spot with Yonge, Sparks, and Vigneault filling out the top 5. Parent was on cruise control through the remainder of the 25 lap affair but some close encounters in lapped traffic provided some late race excitement. With 5 laps to go Parent got held up by a lapped car nearly spinning out. This allowed 2nd place Lance Yonge to close the gap. Yonge would make a charge at the end but Parent held strong and after a heart break earlier this year at Utica Rome he would not be denied on this night as he grabbed his first ever Empire Super Sprint victory. Yonge crossed 2nd with Sparks, Shawn Donath and Justin Barger completing the top 5.

The 358 modifieds were set to go as Perry Francis and Dale Planck led the field to the green flag with Planck getting the advantage over Francis, Chris Raabe, Brian McDonald and Tim O'Brien. Planck had struggled mightily over the last month at MIR and was poised to get back into championship form as he pulled out to a straightaway lead just before halfway with O'Brien, Raabe, Matt Billings and Carey Terrance rounding out the top 5. Chris Raabe started to flex his muscle with 10 laps to go as leader Planck changed his line due to an ill handling race car this allowed Raabe to close in. With 5 laps to go Raabe was set to make his move in traffic but Planck used his experience to get through the traffic with no harm leaving Raabe behind him in 2nd. After several weeks of frustration "The Natural" Dale Planck was able to get back to victory lane for the 3rd time this season in the caution free 25 lap affair with Raabe, Terrance, Billy Dunn and Tim O'Brien completing the top 5.

The Sportsman were ready to go for their 20 lap event on the night. Thunder Anderson Jr., and Mike Stacey led the field of 21 to the green flag however neither driver would lead the opening lap. Dan Jalbert started 3rd and wasted little time getting to the top spot with Jenna David, Wyatt Mullin, Billy Cook and Adam Rozon rounding out the top 5 early on. The yellow flag flew on lap 5 as Thunder Anderson Jr. lost the handle in turn 4. On the restart David was able to get the lead away from Jalbert with Mullin, Dylan Evoy and Adam Rozon close behind. By lap 10 Jalbert had made his way past David for the top spot but the man on the move was Evoy. Dylan Evoy has been the dominant force in Sportsman at MIR and was ready to challenge as he took the top spot away from Jalbert leaving Mullin, David, and Dana Aikens to battle it out in the top 5. Evoy was on cruise control on this night as he would go unchallenged to score his 6th win of the season and tie John Scarborough with 16 career MIR Sportsman feature wins. Wyatt Mullin, Dan Jalbert, Dana Aikens and Adam Rozon rounded out the top 5.

Round #2 of the Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock was set to roll out. Brothers occupied the front row with PJ and Allen Peters leading the field of 20 to the green flag with PJ winning the family battle into turn #1. The yellow would come out almost immediately as Ryan Stabler spun in turn 2. On the restart PJ Peters was able to hold down the lead with Joey Ladouceur, Roch Aubin, Allen Peters and last weeks winner Stephane Lebrun rounding out the top 5. Peters began pulling away but defending series champion Joey Ladouceur was playing the patience game. By lap 15 Ladouceur began to reel in the race leader and 5 laps later took the top spot away leaving Peters, Lebrun, Aubin and Jody Swamp to battle in the top 5. It seemed like Ladouceur would cruise to an easy win but a debris caution on lap 26 would set up and great finish. On the restart PJ Peters made a run at Ladouceur for the lead. The 2 drivers raced door to door with Ladouceur getting the advantage by lap 29.

From there nobody was catching Joey Ladouceur on this night as he grabbed his first series win of the year and 98th of his DIRTcar Pro Stock career with PJ Peters, Stephane Lebrun, Jody Swamp and Roch Aubin rounding out the top 5. The Bandit division had one question on their minds entering the night. How in the world do we stop Stuart Mossow? Mossow had won the last 3 races in a row in dominant fashion and was set to make it 4 as he made his way to 2nd just past halfway, and was set to challenge early race leader Mathieu Aubin. Mossow made a move in turn 2 with 2 laps remaining but ran out of race track down the backstretch which ended his shot at 4 in a row. From there Aubin made it look easy as he scored his 3rd win of the year over Darryl Mitchell, Joey Foster, Corey Castell and Darryl Mainville.

The Mod Lites also had a great showing on this night. Merrittville Speedway invader Paul Klager was making his first ever appearance at MIR and looking to make a statement. After starting 10th he quickly made his way to the front of the field and after a great battle with 3 time winner Bryan Green was able to get the top spot away on the final lap. However the yellow flag flew setting up a one lap dash to the finish. On the final restart Klager held strong and was able to hold Green at bay for his first win of the season with Mathieu Robinson, Matt Meuten and Dean Pronovost making up the top 5.

Next week the 2nd round of the St. Lawrence Seaway Sportsman Series will be getting underway as well as the 97.3 CKON FM TUSA Mod Lite Series along with a full show for Modifieds, Pro Stocks and Bandits. The green flag drops at 7:45pm.
