BRASHER – Two people from Constable have been charged with burglary and conspiracy in the theft of prescription drugs from a safe in a Brasher home in December 2014.

After a lengthy investigation, Samantha L. Armstrong, 19, and Zachary P. Buntz, 26, both of Constable, were charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree conspiracy, both felonies, police said.

They were charged at the state police station in Massena just after midnight Wednesday morning in connection to a burglary reported to troopers on Dec. 1, 2014.

Investigators from the Bureau of Criminal Investigators said Armstrong detained the Upper Ridge Road homeowner in the front-yard driveway of the home complaining of car trouble while Buntz broke in the back of the house and stole a safe in a bedroom containing the resident's opioid prescription medication.

Armstrong and Buntz were arraigned before Norfolk Town Judge George Grubee and released under probationary supervision.

They are to appear again in Grubee’s courtroom July 29.
