CANTON -- An Oswegatchie woman was arrested by St. Lawrence County Sheriff deputies and charged with three felonies on welfare fraud allegations.
Brittany L. House is facing two counts of third-degree welfare fraud and one count of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
She allegedly gave false information to the county Department of Social Services and received $17,766.26 in food stamp and day care benefits, to which she was not entitled, between. The Sheriff’s Department alleges she received the money between Oct. 3, 2011 and Sept. 30, 2012.
House was arraigned in Canton Town Court and released under supervision of the Probation Department, pending a future court appearance.
