Steve O'Shaughnessy in a landslide defeated Joseph Gray in the Massena town supervisor election, 1,428 to 692.
Gray, a Republican incumbent, was seeking a third term.
O’Shaughnessy, Democrat, was seeking his first term in the town’s top office. He has been on the Town Council for two years and served 10 years on the planning board, five of those as chairman. He was also on the Working Families line.
The two ran a contentious campaign that included jabs over experience and leadership ability. Toward the end, online comments from Gray entered into the campaign discussion that some considered offensive and insensitive.
The results are unofficial and do not include absentee ballots.
