NORWOOD -- Joe Liotta, President of the Norwood Village Green Concert Series recently connected with Cathie Ryan and Brian Melick at the Studio at 620 in St. Petersburg where Cathie and her band were preparing for a three-concert run with the Florida Orchestra and guest conductor Jeff Tyzik.
The three concerts were given at Tampa Bay’s three major 2000 seat plus concert halls, The Straz in Tampa, the Mahaffey in St. Pete, and Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.
The Cathie Ryan Band with percussionist Brian Melick, guitarist Patsy O’Brien and fiddler Matt Mancuso will be performing for the Norwood Village Green Concert Series on Sunday, June 29. It will be Ryan’s two appearance in the series. She first performed in 2006.
Brian Melick will be performing twice for the series in 2014, once with Ryan and again with Martha Gallagher and Harper’s Delight on Thursday, July 24. A self-taught world music percussionist, Melick is featured on over 250 CDs by musicians such as Pete Seeger, Bela Fleck, Livingston Taylor, Jorma Kaukonen, John Sebastian, Rory Block, Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, Stuart Duncan, Bruce Molsky, and Scott Petito.
