POTSDAM -- The volunteer members of the Orchestra of Northern New York board of directors themselves, contributed $10,000 or 20 percent of the $50,000 received from individual donations in the 2016-2017 fiscal year of which ended June 30.
One hundred percent of board members participated in the campaign.
"ONNY is most fortunate to have a group of volunteers who give of their time of talent of and treasure to help sustain a professional symphony orchestra in this rural region of the state,” said Board President Tim Savage of Canton. “I am proud and humbled to serve with them as we strive to enrich the quality of life in the area through performances of high quality orchestral music."
ONNY board members are vice president Michael Draper of Norfolk, treasurer Mary Jane Watson of South Colton, secretary Lily Ianaconi of Malone, volunteer guild president Kimberly Busch, Vernice Church of Norwood, Victoria Day of Gouverneur, Jeremy Carney of Potsdam, Ralph Hastings of North Bangor, John Ellis of Potsdam, Marc Boyer of Ogdensburg, John J. Gray Jr. of Colton, Adrienne Hartman of Potsdam, and Michael Greenwald of Canton.
This fall, ONNY will launch its 30th season including two classical, one Baroque and two pops concerts. ONNY will perform in Potsdam, Massena and Watertown. The budget for 2017-2018 is $160,550 with nearly half going for musicians' fees and travel.
Tickets to ONNY concerts are available online, by calling the box office at 315-267-2277, or at the door the day of concerts. Discounts are available to seniors, military, and students. Children of 17 and under are free.
