Although there are 10 town and village justice seats up for grabs, only one has a challenge to the gavel.

In Madrid, Democrat Liz Sharpe and Republican Bill Hull are going head-to-head. The office was held by Anya Tendler, elected in 2012 as an independent on the New Beginnings line. She resigned in August after being arrested twice in two days for driving while intoxicated with her 5-year-old triplets in the car, and later for getting behind the wheel after the court prohibited her from doing so.

Uncontested candidates for the other nine seats include:

Town of Canton - Democrat Jim Monroe

Town of Colton - Incumbent Republican Dale Paul Robar

Town of Edwards - Incumbent Democrat Howard Putney

Town of Fine - Incumbent Republican Julie LaTray

Town of Hopkinton - Republican David Beekman

Town of Lawrence - Republican Missie Hastings-LaVigne

Town of Massena - Incumbent Democrat Gerald Sharlow

Village of Massena - Incumbent Democrat Eric Gustafson

Town of Potsdam - Incumbent Democrat Samuel Charleson
