An online petition purportedly set up by the mother of a slain Fort Covington man is seeking 3,000 signatures to keep the accused murderer in jail until the trial.
The petition is posted at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/concerned-for-victims/ or www.thepetitionsite.com and type in Trimm's name. It's been titled "Concerned for victims," its target is "Keep Dustin J. Trimm in jail," and it is reportedly sponsored by Roxanne Stratton, victim Jason Wing's mother, who crusaded for months to find her son after he went missing.
Wing was 21 when he was first reported missing Aug. 29, 2010. In early February 2012, state police found his body buried in a wooded area in Raymondville after arresting Dustin Trimm, 37, Winthrop, for his murder.
Trimm was charged with second-degree murder and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail.
On Feb. 27, he was indicted by a grand jury. His next arraignment date is set for March 26 in county court.
The narrative says the petition is intended to keep Trimm in jail with no bail until the trial is over.
So far, 133 have signed the petition, and the signature goal is 3,000.
People from as far away as Australia, the Netherlands and the U.K. have signed it.
