Several communities in St. Lawrence County are holding party primaries Thursday, Sept. 10 to pick candidates whose names will appear on party lines on the November election ballot.
The day to vote in the primary is a Thursday as opposed to the usual voting days on Tuesdays.
As they have in recent years, the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections is opening one polling place per town and one in Ogdensburg to handle the usually low turnout for primaries.
The following polling places will be open from noon to 9 p.m. Sept. 10 for the listed party primaries:
• Clifton, Newton Falls Town Office, 66 River Rd., Newton Falls; Democrats, Republicans
• Edwards, Edwards Town Hall, 161 Main St., Edwards; Republicans
• Fine, Municipal Office Building, 4078 State Hwy. 3, Star Lake; Republicans
• Fowler, Fowler Town Hall, 87 Little York Rd., Fowler; Republicans
• Hammond, Hammond Fire Department, 300 Lake St., Hammond; Republicans, Conservatives
• Hermon, Hermon Town Hall, 109 Church St., Hermon; Democrats
• Morristown, Morristown Fire Hall, 200 Morris St., Morristown; Republicans
• Potsdam, Potsdam Town Offices, 18 Elm St., Potsdam; Democrats
• Ogdensburg, Dobisky Center, 100 Riverside Ave., Ogdensburg; Independence Party
