MORRISTOWN – St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a one-vessel boating accident on Black Lake in which at least one person was killed and another is feared dead.

St. Lawrence County 911 received a call at 6:34 p.m. reporting an overturned boat near Hog Back Island and Morristown and Brier Hill fire departments responded to the scene.

One body was recovered and the person was pronounced dead by county Coroner Kevin Crosby.

The search for a second victim was called off due to nightfall last night.

The search will resume first thing this morning, deputies said.

Names of the victims are being withheld until notification of next of kin can be made.

State police and state Department of Environmental Conservation officers assisted.

The accident is still under investigation, deputies said.
