OGDENSBURG -- The founders of “PJs 4 Xmas” collected 1,762 pairs of pajamas this holiday season for needy children in St. Lawrence County.
Camille Marshall, 15, right, and Abigail Marshall, 12, said they are very excited about making their 1,500-pair goal and can't get over the response from everyone helping them this year.
Recipients of the pajamas include children enrolled in all Head Start programs in St. Lawrence County, the Heuvelton Giving Tree, Renewal House and other organizations.
Penny Jugs and drop boxes were placed in local stores in the Ogdensburg, Heuvelton and the Canton Road areas.
The girls also raised enough money to have 501c3 nonprofit license paid in full. Their license will be in effect by this January. They currently are incorporated.
Total money collected was $6029.37.
The girls said it means a lot to them that so many people showed so much love and support.
"We hope every one has a wonderful Chirstmas," said Abby.
"We can't begin to tell you all how much this means, not only to us but to others in need as well" said Camille.
