Ogdensburg’s Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center adds new mammography patient navigator

OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center’s Richard E. Winter Cancer Center has named Mammography Patient Navigator Ashley Peggs to its staff.

Peggs work is based on the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) Patient Navigation Project. The purpose of the Project is to increase the number of age appropriate women who are receiving mammograms and continue to be screened annually.

Peggs will be seeking women who are between the ages of 40 to 64 who have never had a mammogram or do not get them annually. She will work with these women to identify barriers and provide solutions to overcome barriers that may be preventing them from getting regular mammograms.

Peggs is here to help you schedule your mammogram. She can also assist individuals with transportation to, and the cost of your mammogram if you are uninsured or underinsured.

Peggs provides support and direction when encountering barriers to getting screened, can assist with other concerns such as time off from work, and act as an advocate for you with your routine mammogram appointments.

Claxton-Hepburn’s Connection for Women conveniently offers evening and weekend appointments. It is proven that early detection of breast cancer saves lives.

For more information, contact Peggs at 393-8880, extension 6243 or my email at apeggs@chmed.org. Your tomorrow is worth defending.
