There will be several workshops for people seeking relief for flooding damage along the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario, including one in Ogdensburg July 24.
Mayor Wayne Ashley is co-host of the 6 p.m. workshop at the Dobisky Visitors Center, 100 Riverside Ave.
Small businesses, farms, not-for-profits, municipalities and homeowners, including seasonal homeowners, are eligible for some of the $45 million in aid approved by state government and promoted by Sen. Patty Ritchie, R-Heuvelton. Aid will be granted on a first come-first served basis.
The workshops are intended to answer questions about the program and provide assistance with filling out applications for grants.
People attending the workshop are encouraged to contact Neighbors of Watertown at (315) 782-8497 or www.neighborsofwatertown.com in advance to obtain an application for funding and view a list of required documents. Assembling required documents and preparing as much of the application as possible in advance of the workshops will help to speed up the application process.
“I am encouraging anyone who is seeking help to attend an upcoming workshop and apply for funds as soon as possible,” Ritchie said in a prepared statement.
