OGDENSBURG -- An Ogdensburg woman was charged with receiving $6,888 in food stamp benefits that she was not entitled to over a two-year period, according to the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department.

Ashley L. Kendall, 29, 627 Ford St., was arrested for third degree welfare fraud, and two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, both felonies, said deputies.

Kendall allegedly submitted food stamp benefit application and recertification forms to the department of social services that contained false information, according to sheriffs.

Police said Kendall illegally received the benefits from Nov. 1, 2008 until Aug. 21, 2011.
