OGDENSBURG – An Ogdensburg woman who received nearly $47,000 in reportedly illegal disability benefits for four years was arrested by the state police bureau of criminal investigation Sunday, Oct. 10.

State police charged Karen L. Ashley, 52, Ogdensburg with third-degree insurance fraud, a class D felony, and first-degree falsifying business records, a class E felony.

Ashley was arrested after an investigation determined that she received disability benefits from March 2005 to August 2009 in the amount of $46,869.59, to which she was not entitled.
