Ogdensburg will reconsider Denny Street property sale

OGDENBSURG – Ogdensburg City Council will meet Monday at 7 p.m. to discuss a property sale, an agreement with Hoosier Magnetics and the Holiday Light Up the Night Parade.

The city is expected to revisit a Denny Street property sale that was tabled at the last meeting after Brian Morley spoke at a public hearing regarding and said the parcel is land locked, full of trash and in poor condition.

Morley, who owns rental properties, said efforts to cleanup Denny Street have been made in recent years and selling this property, without a guarantee the structure would be demolished would be a poor decision.

He said the property has been an eyesore in the area and a haven for drug use. He said the city should use grant funding to tear down the building.

Morley said he would like to see the property purchased by an adjacent landowner once the structure has been removed.

Following his comments the sale was tabled.

The city will also discuss a potential easement agreement with Hoosier Magnetics regarding installation and maintenance of a sewer main, two generators and one transformer.

Also on the Monday agenda is a resolution that would allow the The Light Up the Night Parade to take place on State Street.

The meeting will be held at City Hall.
