HAMMOND -- Two Ogdensburg teens are facing felony theft charges after being found pushing a stolen ATV down a highway and caught with other stolen property, according to the county sheriff's office.
Brandon D. Parker, 18, and Dylan J. Parker, 17, both of state Route 58, are charged with third-degree grand larceny, felony, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, misdemeanor, deputies said.
They were charged following a report of suspicious activity at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday on South Main Street in Hammond. Both Parkers allegedly were pushing the stolen Honda ATV down state Route 37 and spotted the people who made the suspicious activity report, police said. They pushed the ATV off the roadway and fled into the woods, deputies said.
They were caught at 4:04 a.m. on county Route 6 in Hammond, deputies said.
After taking inventory of their vehicle and trailer, which had been abandoned on state Route 37, deputies said they found tools and an air compressor reported stolen from Jefferson County the previous day, deputies said.
Both Parkers were arraigned in Morristown Town Court by Justice Lisa Whitmarsh and released under probationary supervision with orders to re-appear on a later date, police said.
