OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg wants citizen input in the city’s planning for the future, and has set up a series of meetings and workshops to get it.
“The City of Ogdensburg values an engaged citizenry and is committed to involving people in crafting the future of the City,” said the announcement from City Manager Arthur Sciorra’s office.
The first meeting will take place July 21. All these meetings begin at 6 p.m. at the Dobisky Visitor Center.
The workshops will focus on two city initiatives: the Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) and the Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan (LWRP). The BOA includes the former Diamond International andStandard Shade Roller sites, the Augsbury tank farm, marina district, and Lighthouse Point, while the LWRP addresses the city’s coastal policies and projects city-wide.
Meeting dates and topics to be discussed are:
• Thursday, July 21, Opportunities and Constraints
• Thursday, Aug. 18, “Visioning” – Working toward a unified community vision
• Thursday, Sept. 15, Target Area Walk and Discussion
• Thursday, Oct. 13, Draft Policy Recommendations and Site Development Concepts
While the city is developing plans to guide the community into the future, they urge people to take advantage of the opportunity to make a difference by joining in the workshops.
