Ogdensburg schools honor retiring teachers and other staffers

OGDENSBURG – The Ogdensburg City School District Board of Education and administration recognized many retiring employees for their years of service to the district at Monday’s meeting.

District Superintendent Timothy Vernsey and Board President Ronald Johnson presented all present retiring employees with a Certificate of Appreciation.

“I looked at this list of people we’re honoring tonight and you have over 350 years of combined service,” Vernsey said.

Among the recognized retirees were computer operator Jane King, 36 years of service upon retirement; secondary math teacher Lori Rafferty, 36 years; elementary teacher Tracie Kroeger, 33 years; secondary English teacher Mary Ellen Martin, 32 years; speech therapist Lisa Smithers, 32 years; secondary social studies teacher George Snyder, 29 years; elementary teacher Jacqueline Caruso, 28 years; teacher of the speech and hearing handicapped Mollee Monnet-Ashley, 26 years; special education teacher Lori Sovie, 20 years; teaching assistant Gayle Steinburg, 31 years; teaching assistant Pamela McCready, 18 years; teaching assistant Dorene Shattuck, 16 years; full-time food service helper Linda LaFave, 16 years; and part-time food service helper Susan McPherson, 23 years.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, the administration, the faculty and staff, we very much appreciate your many years of outstanding service to the district and we certainly hope that you have a very healthy and great retirement, it’s very deserving,” Vernsey added.
