OGDENSBURG -- The Salvation Army post here recently helped supply meals to local families who lost power during the high wind storm earlier this week.

Salvation Army Lieutenant Shaun McNeil received a call Thursday, April 5, at around 6:45 p.m. from the emergency deputy coordinator in Ogdensburg that there were people in Norwood who had been without power all day and needed help with meals, said a press release from the organization.

McNeil, advisory board chairman Timothy Davis and volunteer David Griffith prepared 50 hot meals of pasta and hot dogs and loaded the emergency disaster vehicle to deliver the meals.

They also brought with them animal crackers, string cheese, raisins and chocolate pudding.

John Miller, Salvation Army emergency disaster coordinator, met the team at the scene where they served the residents at Baldwin Acres with the help of the Norwood Fire Department.

The relief workers distributed: 47 meals – hot dogs and pasta; 60 teas; 60 waters; 48 MREs (meals ready to eat); 48 animal crackers; 60 string cheese packages; 72 raisins packs; and 60 chocolate puddings.

The Salvation Army in Ogdensburg has an active EDS team. They actively serve the fireman, policemen and any other service personnel during a disaster throughout St. Lawrence County.

The EDS team’s main focus is to serve while the disaster is happening, but The Salvation Army also serves the victims of a disaster as well with food, clothing and other needs.
