OGDENSBURG -- Bill LaFlair of Ogdensburg won the $5,000 top prize in the United Helpers Raffle for the Residents.
Second prize and $2,500 went to the Fox & Murray Funeral Home in Ogdensburg. Third prize and $1,000 went to Carmen Paone of Potsdam.
Close to 1,500 tickets were sold for the inaugural raffle.
LaFlair, who is employed at United Helpers RiverLedge Campus as its director of buildings and grounds, sold more than 100 tickets for the drawing, including the second-prize winning ticket. He said he’s planning to use a portion of his winnings to purchase lunch one day for his fellow RiverLedge employees.
Also receiving prizes were Neil Harper of Lisbon, who won $500 and Robert Burns of Potsdam, who won $100.
The drawing raised nearly $5,500 for the society, which in turn provides funding for purchases and activities that benefit the residents of United Helpers and the people they serve.
