OGDENSBURG -- Renewal House at its recent recognition dinner honored a doctor for his work with domestic and sexual violence victims in St. Lawrence County.

Dr. Robert Saidel was recognized “for his role in supporting victims both through his practice, and his personal life as a true helper across St. Lawrence County,” a statement from Renewal House said.

Also at the dinner, Renewal House Director Ilene Burke announced the agency is getting a $29,000 state grant to help pay for sexual assault services and prevention.

St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services Commissioner Chris Rediehs spoke at the event.

“By engaging as a catalyst for empowering victims, the St. Lawrence Valley Renewal House has helped transform lives. The luminous example that Renewal House has set is stellar,” Rediehs is quoted in the statement as having said at the dinner. “This is a unique example in many ways as it has been and is St. Lawrence County’s only domestic violence prevention agency. Renewal house can inspire all of us to similar work that engages and empowers.”
