OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg Public Library was visited by over 53,000 patrons and circulated more than 68,000 items in 2016, according to an annual report.

Ogdensburg Public Library had a wonderful year in 2016. The library circulated over 68,000 items in 2016, including books in regular and large print, books on CD, DVDs and magazines.

More than 10,000 patrons used the library’s fourteen public access computers.

“We had over 11,860 Wi-Fi users on our network. Over 2,000 new books, audio books and videos were added to the collection,” the report says.

The library hosted 112 story times and 45 programs for adults. There were over 112 patrons registered for the summer reading program.

Some activities that were done during 2016 were movie nights once a month, Pokemon Card Hunt, Family Book Club, Candle Holder craft, make and play the Tetris game, Water Gun Painting, Battle of the Books (with the school district) and our Gratitude Garland.

The Thompson Park Zoo and Reptiles Forever visited the library with many different animals.

Overdrive, the downloadable audio, e-book, and e-magazine service grew in popularity.

Titles for children and young adults were added this year, expanding the overall electronic collection even more.

The lift has been installed, on the State Street side of the building to make the library more accessible e and the elevator had a new control panel installed and electrical work was done.

“The Friends of the Library continued to support the library financially by having two book sales. They are planning on having book sales and other fundraisers in 2017,” the release says. “They do accept new members all year long. Membership forms are across from the circulation desk in the library.”

The hours of the library are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Ogdensburg Public Library Board of Trustees held its January meeting to elect officers.

Serving as officers on the Board in 2016 will be Chairman – Scott McRoberts, Vice-Chairman – Marc Boyer, Treasurer – James Fish and Secretary – Michelle McLagan.

Other Board members are Matt Duprey, Cathy Piche, Mary Margaret Small and Shelley Bond. The Board of Trustees meets once a month.

Their meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.
