OGDESNBURG -- Ogdensburg school’s $41.9 million budget calls for a 2.16 percent increase in the tax levy.

According to the proposal, total spending will increase from $39.2 Million to $41.9 million or 6.89 percent, while the levy will rise from $9.42 million to $9.62 million.

To minimize the increase in taxes the district will contribute $2.2 million in unrestricted fund balance.

The new tax rate is estimated at $26.22 per $1,000 of assessed value.

An Ogdensburg property owner with a home valued at $100,000 will pay about $25.27 more than the previous year after the STAR exemption.

Those with homes valued at $50,000 would pay about $7.22 more than last year after the STAR exemption.
