OGDENSBURG -- The Pride and Beautification commission will paint 10 Ogdensburg porches.
The commission is accepting applications until June 1 and will hold a lottery drawing June 12 to determine the 10 winners.
“We encourage homeowners to apply as this is a great way to show pride in Ogdensburg to our neighbors and visitors to our community,” a release from the commission says.
The porch must be on a property in the City of Ogdensburg. There are no income restrictions. The porch must be facing the street and it must be a single story.
Three of the residents will have their porches painted at no cost. The other seven will need to purchase the materials, but the labor will be provided at no cost.
Mary Ann Narenkivicius, who chairs the commission says the porch improvements will not have an impact on the properties’ assessments.
Narenkinvicius says the volunteers will come from the Catholic Heart Work Camp. She said about 185 juniors and seniors will stay at Wadham’s Hall while they perform the week.
“It’s similar to Habitat for Humanity,” she said.
“It’s really a great thing. These students come from all over to help us,” she said.
