OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg police are warning residents of ongoing phone and mail scams.
“Any suspicious activity via telephone, email, or delivered mail should be verified through their local police department,” the release says.
Residents of Ogdensburg and surrounding areas are being reminded to never give out any personal information such as date of birth, social security numbers, banking account information or credit card information, police say.
“Please be cautious when unknown persons ask you to send money orders via postal service as a way to redeem prizes; as winning a prize should never require a person to pay for such,” the release says.
Any questions regarding scams should be directed to Ogdensburg City Police or other local law enforcement agencies.
