OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg police used a Taser to subdue a city man who allegedly fled on foot and resisted arrest at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday.

Donald T. Hicks, 33, was charged on a city court warrant failure to appear for a previous charge of failing to provide a DNA sample.

When police attempted to make an arrest near Kinney Drugs, Hicks fled on foot. Officer Jarrett LaClair gave chase and was assisted by officer Jason Streeter who used a Taser to bring down Hicks. Neither officer reported being injured.

An eye witness reported seeing Hicks flee from Laclair.

“The person apprehended took off on a dead sprint. He was quickly followed by patrolman LeClair. These guys were moving across and down Canton Street for a bit then into the entire length of Kinney’s parking lot. He then ran around the store and an additional car came with patrolmen Streeter arriving to assist in the arrest,” the witness said.

Hicks was also charged with resisting arrest.

Officers said he was held in lock up awaiting arraignment.
