OGDENSBURG — Ogdensburg police are waiting on a cause of death and positive identification of skeletal remains found behind Northwest Technical Center, 1000 Park St. on Dec. 18.
Lt. Daniel Mousaw said that there is no timetable as to when they would know who the deceased male is.
Mousaw said that investigators continue to check in with the medical examiners in Albany for any new information.
He said that medical officials are trying to identify the person through dental records. St. Lawrence County Coroner Kevin Crosby said previously that the remains had been there a “considerable amount of time.”
The skeletal remains were found by a natural resource management class that was cutting trees in the woods behind the building. Police were contacted immediately.
Ogdensburg City Police are leading the investigation with the assistance of the New York State Police Forensic Unit.
Ogdensburg police were assisted on scene by state police, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies and St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua.
