OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg police say there will be no charges against the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center patient who was involved in a fight that led to the death of another man.
Ogdensburg police investigated the death of Patrick Moore who died as a result of injuries sustained in a Dec. 31 fight with another patient, who has not been identified.
On Dec. 31, 2017 at approximately 3:30 a.m.
The investigation revealed that Moore sought out and located another patient within the facility.
Moore then physically attacked the other patient with a cane.
The victim of the attack, attempted to defend himself, grabbing the cane during the attack, during which both subjects stumbled and fell to the floor.
The victim of the attack, subsequently, landed on top of Moore, when both fell to the ground. The victim then restrained Moore until staff arrived to assist. As a result of the fall Moore sustained a broken pelvis. It has been determined that Moore’s passing was a result of complications resulting from the broken Pelvis.
The investigation was completed, and presented to the St. Lawrence County District Attorney.
It has been determined that the victim of the attack, perpetrated by Moore, was merely acting in self-defense, when the injury to Moore occurred, and there was no criminal intent to cause such injury.
Therefore, there will be no charges filed, and the case has been closed.
