OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg City Police Chief Rick Polniak says officers have ceased a manhunt for a home invasion suspect and are interviewing several people to try and figure out what happened.
"We ended up with some possible suspects and we're in the process of the doing some interviews to wrap it up," he said.
Polniak said a resident of 426 Washington St. reported a male inside their home that had no business being there. The person fled on foot and officers this afternoon searched the area with dogs.
Polniak said despite rumors, the break-in is neither drug-related, nor tied to an unattended death that is under investigation.
The chief said an elderly man was found dead in his apartment above DaVinci's restaurant in the 1300 block of Ford Street.
"There's no signs of foul play," Polniak said. "It's a standard process when somebody dies and no one's around. They'll do an autopsy."
