OGDENSBURG -- An Ogdensburg police officer was commended by city council Monday after he saved the life of a city resident.
Patrolman Mark Kearns performed CPR on Robert Well, who was suffering from a heart attack recently.
Kearns performed life saving measures until the rescue squad arrived. Mayor William Nelson said the man would not have lived had Kearns not reacted so quickly.
Also at the meeting was Mr. Wells and several family members. Wells noted that Kearns’ “CPR is good,” as Wells’ wife joked that his chest was still sore from the experience.
Several members of the Ogdensburg police force attended the meeting to show their support for Kearns as well.
“Tonight we get to recognize one of our own. These guys do a good job day in day out and there is so much that they do that we don’t know about,” Nelson said. “Thanks Mark for the great job you do.”
