OGDENSBURG – The Ogdensburg Police Department is investigating a series of burglaries to local businesses within the city that began on May 18.

On that day, police responded to the Sandwich Warehouse, 601 Canton St., where a suspect made off with a quantity of cash after entering through a window.

On May 22, police were called to the Cutting Edge Salon, 214 Burton La., where entry was made through a window after the suspect threw an object through the glass. A significant amount of damage was caused once inside. The suspect left with a quantity of cash, police said.

On the night of the 22nd, police responded to the Beauty Inn/Dirty Gringo, 109 Main St., where entry was made by throwing a glass bottle filled with dirt through a window. Once inside the suspect managed to gain entry into the Dirty Gringo Restaurant, which is attached to the Beauty Inn. The suspect allegedly rummaged around the restaurant before tripping an alarm and leaving through the front door with a quantity of cash.

Early on May 23, the same night as the previous burglary, patrols discovered a broken window at Well’s Car Wash, 50 Fine St., where forcible entry was made by throwing a large piece of wood through a window. As far as police can tell, nothing appears to have been taken.

The Ogdensburg Police Department would like anyone with any information to contact investigators at (315)393-1551.

The department wants to make people aware of recent activity, and to report any suspicious activity or persons in their area.

They would also like to remind business owners to be mindful of securing their businesses at night, and to consider installing security lights, cameras or alarm systems, to help better protect their property.
