OGDENSBURG -- The City of Ogdensburg has announced its 2015 schedule for curbside pickup of yard waste.

Yard waste will be picked up from June through October by the guidelines indicated below, which are also available at www.ogdensburg.org.

People can put yard waste out no earlier than Saturday morning or no later than Sunday evening on the designated weekend for a particular area. It will be picked up by DPW crews during the week that follows. Additionally, the brush pile at the landfill is open to the public Monday through Friday beginning May 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the summer months.

Guidelines:

• Yard waste is limited to brush, branches (under six inches in diameter and less than six feet long) and leaves.

• Leaves should be in a separate pile.

• Bags and containers are prohibited.

• Yard waste does not include pet waste, construction debris, regular garbage or containers of any kind.

• Put yard waste between the sidewalk and curb, not in the street.

• Piles must not block fire hydrants, nor touch poles, bushes, or fences.

• Do not place yard waste in any kind of containers.

• The city will not pick up debris or yard waste generated by a contractor.

Spring cleanup will start on Monday, April 20 and run through the start of the regularly scheduled pickup program. The last day to put out yard waste for spring pickup is May 25.

Fall cleanup will start after the completion of our last regularly scheduled pickups the week of October 26 and run through November 25. The last day to put out materials for pickup is November 22.

During spring and fall cleanups, crews start in the second ward and move towards Proctor Avenue. They will go back through each ward multiple times during the cleanup process. Proctor Avenue area is picked up with the first ward.
