OGDENSBURG -- An Ogdensburg man who was released from state prison six months ago and was on parole is in custody again, charged with a burglary Wednesday.
Andrew R. Sharpe, 31 of 1420 Jay St., was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, along with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; and fifth-degree criminal possession of marihuana class B misdemeanor.
At 6:06 p.m. Oct. 1, city police responded to a report of a residential burglary that occurred around 5 p.m. at 421 Judson Street.
As a result of the investigation, Sharpe was arrested a couple of hours later during a traffic stop, according to Ogdensburg Police Det. Sgt. Robert Westcott. The drugs were found during the traffic stop with the help of Ogdensburg Police Department’s drug sniffing black Labrador K9, Kodiak, Westcott said.
Sharpe was held overnight in city lockup and arraigned in City Court before Justice Gary Alford. He was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with no bail, as a result of his previous felony convictions.
