OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg Parks & Recreation Department will be launching its Youth Recreation Calendar on the City of Ogdensburg’s website at www.ogdensburg.org.
“We are creating what I am calling a central database for all things that could be considered youth recreation in the City of Ogdensburg including arts and crafts, camps, sports camps, reading programs, anything that is youth-oriented,” said Parks & Recreation Director Matthew Curatolo.
The calendar will give parents one place to find activities in Ogdensburg for their children, Curatolo said.
“One of the things that I believe is tough for the average parent is finding out what is going on and when, especially in the summer when there is a lot being offered. We often receive phone calls asking questions on events that we are not associated with and cannot help them. What this calendar would do is cut down on that and give city residents a central destination to find the information they are looking for,” he said.
Through the website, residents will also be able to sign-up to be notified by either text message or by email of any new submissions to the Youth Recreation Calendar.
Anyone offering a youth-oriented activity should email the Parks & Recreation Department at ogdrec@ogdensburg.org; send a message through Facebook to “Ogdensburg City Recreation”; or drop off an announcement to the Dobisky Visitors Center, 100 Riverside Ave.
The calendar is expected to go up in April.1
