OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Parks & Recreation Department was recently awarded a grant for $17,862 from the “Baseball Tomorrow Fund.”
The grant will provide funding for field maintenance equipment and the city’s youth baseball and softball fields.
The department will use the funds to purchase a utility vehicle and spreader, roller, aerator and infield groomer tow-behinds that will be used to improve the quality of the youth baseball and softball fields at Montroy Park and other city fields.
“Funding from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund will allow the department to purchase equipment that will dramatically upgrade our youth fields, therefore improving the overall quality of programs we offer, as well as those offered by Kiwanis and the Boys & Girls Club. Our primary focus will be to improve Montroy Park and its three baseball and softball fields that are used by hundreds of city youth each year,” said Matthew J. Curatolo, director of Parks & Recreation.
Other major supporters of the project include the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club and the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club.
