OGDENSBURG -The Ogdensburg municipal pool is now open for public swimming Monday through Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Cost to use the pool is 50 cents for children and $1 for adults a day. Cost for a child’s pass for the summer is $10, an adult pass is $20 and a family pass that includes up to five people is $35. New this year is a swimming pass special, which includes swimming lessons and a season swimming pass for $30, a savings of $5.

Passes can be purchased at the Dobisky Visitor’s Center, 100 Riverside Avenue Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The following are swimming programs offered this summer:

Swimming lessons will be offered for all skill levels. The instructors are fully certified and will offer the standard Red Cross Program. Each child will be placed in a half hour time slot determined on the testing days.

The lessons are for children 4-14 and will be held Monday through Friday from 8-11:30 a.m. Testing and group assignments will be held June 26-28. Lessons will be held from July 1-Aug. 2. Fee is $25.

The pool also offers introductory lessons for toddlers. This aquatic program has been developed to acquaint infants and toddlers ages 6-months to 4 years old to the water and as an introduction to the pre-school aquatics programs. Its goal is to make the children comfortable in and around water and introduce some safety skills. The swimming companion will be taught how to utilize various holds and techniques to help the child get acclimated to the pool.

There will be two swim instructors conducting classes and helping all the participants. A parent, guardian, babysitter or responsible adult must be willing to accompany child in the water.

The swim will be held Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to noon July 2-25 at the municipal pool. Fee is $12.

An adult only program is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:15-7:15 a.m. Cost is $65 a season or $3 a day.

Water aerobics classes begin July 9, and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the pool.

This program will demonstrate various water exercises and routines to be worked on in groups or individually at your own pace. Water aerobics/exercise is a good form of passive resistance exercise eliminating the stress of weight-bearing activities on your body’s joints and musculature. The cost of the program will be $5 a day or $35 a month and will run the entire summer.
