A mother and daughter from Ogdensburg spent the first part of Thanksgiving in New York City watching the Macy’s parade and the rest of the day serving Thanksgiving meals to some of the city’s homeless.

Kim Snyder and her daughter Jordan, a 9th grader at Ogdensburg Free Academy, spent the afternoon after the parade at the Bowery Mission in Chinatown, helping to provide meals to more than 600 people between 1:30 and 5 p.m.

"I wanted her to have the experience," Kim said.

This year marked the 135th Thanksgiving dinner provided by the mission, Kim said.

This year the Bowery Mission served about 10,000 meals to those in need across the five boroughs of New York City, according to figures from the mission.
