OSWEGATCHIE – An Ogdensburg man was eventually charged with felony DWI Wednesday after he flipped his truck on the Irish Settlement Road and reportedly fled the scene on foot before state police arrived.
Matthew Mastine, 29, was operating a Nissan pickup truck when he lost control of the vehicle on snow covered roadways, police report. The truck left the roadway and flipped onto the driver's side, coming to rest in a ditch.
State police later located Mastine and transported his to the Ogdensburg station, where he was found to have a blood alcohol content of .17 percent, two times the .08 legal limit.
He was issued tickets for felony DWI because he had to priors in the past 10 years, leaving the scene of an accident, imprudent speed and failure to keep right.
Mastine was arraigned in Morristown Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $7,500 cash or $15,000 bond. He will appear in court at a later date.
