OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg City Police say a 30-year-old man is jailed without bail on charges of forcible rape and course of sexual conduct against a child less than 13 years old.
Kevin M. McCarthy Jr., 30, of 462 County Rte. 4, Ogdensburg is charged with four counts of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child. Both charges are class B felonies.
Police said McCarthy engaged in sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion with a child less than 13 years old.
Police said he was charged following the unsealing of an indictment in St. Lawrence County Court. He was arraigned by Judge Jerome Richards and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail, pending further court action.
McCarthy has a second pending child sex case. He was arrested May 17 and charged with a felony count of third-degree criminal solicitation. He is accused of attempting to solicit sex from a child under age 16.
He was charged in that case following a joint investigation by Ogdensburg police, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit.
McCarthy allegedly had contact with and engaged in communication with a child purported to be under the age of sixteen and attempted to meet the child somewhere in Ogdensburg.
McCarthy was taken into custody at the agreed-upon time and place, investigators said.
