OSWEGATCHIE – An Ogdensburg man was ejected from his vehicle following a short police pursuit on State Route 812 early Monday morning, according to state police.
The operator, Andrew Mason Jr., 18, was transported to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center by Ogdensburg Rescue and later sent to University Hospital in Syracuse, police said.
Troopers say they initiated a traffic stop on a red Ford Expedition for speeding through a 45 mph zone and upon troopers activating their emergency lights, the vehicle accelerated and failed to stop for them.
After a short chase, the vehicle exited the west shoulder and rolled several times before coming to a rest in a field.
Mason is currently listed in fair condition, troopers said.
Police said their investigation into the accident is ongoing.
