Shane R. Bell, 36, of Ogdensburg was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

On Dec. 20, St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division responded to 822 New York Ave. to execute a warrant of eviction, with assistance from Ogdensburg Police Department.

Upon arriving, the Ogdensburg’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit began an investigation into a possible methamphetamine production operation, police said.

As a result of what police described as "the material and items observed in the residence," they brought in the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Response Team.

Investigators say they recovered one pot methamphetamine labs and lab components.

They did not catch up with Bell until Tuesday, when they arrested him following a traffic stop.

He was arraigned by Ogdensburg City Court Justice Gary Alford and  released under the supervision of St. Lawrence County Probation Department.

Police were also assisted by members of the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further arrests are possible, police said.
