OSWEGATCHIE -- An Ogdensburg man was charged on Saturday with grand larceny after he allegedly left the scene of a property-damage accident on Friday evening, according to state police.
Ogdensburg-based troopers say they charged Joel L. Hockey, 38, with fourth-degree grand larceny: auto over $1,000, probation violation: support order, driving with no license, speeding, leaving the scene of an accident and moving from lane unsafely.
Hockey allegedly was driving a 1992 Buick Roadmaster on county Route 6, went off the west shoulder and hit a stop sign and power pole. Police allege that it was not his vehicle and he did not have permission to use it.
He was charged at 12:16 p.m. at 3718 State Highway 37, officers said.
Police listed his status as held.
