Ogdensburg Public Library was named “Best St. Lawrence County Library,” while librarians from Gouverneur and Waddington were named “Outstanding Librarians” in an online poll conducted by Sen. Patricia Ritchie.
Waddington librarian Edith Ashley and Gouverneur librarian Linda Adams tied for the title of Outstanding Librarian.
The poll held to mark National Library Week, which took place April 12-18.
More than 200 votes were cast for the region’s best libraries and most outstanding librarians, according to Ritchie.
“Today, libraries are so much more than books, they are centers of our communities where people have endless opportunities to expand their horizons, learn and grow,” said Ritchie said in a released statement.
“The libraries and librarians throughout Central and Northern New York are truly extraordinary, and I encourage everyone to Check It Out at their local libraries this week and throughout the year.”
