Ogdensburg lawmakers to honor DPW workers for recent efforts fighting frozen pipes

OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg City Council will soon honor its Department of Public Works employees for their recent efforts to keep water flowing to homes.

A resolution on Monday’s agenda recognizes the DPW employees for their efforts in managing and unusually cold winter.

“The DPW worked 24 hours a day to plow, snow-blow and remove snow,” the resolution says. “Due to unusually cold temperatures this winter there has been a significant increase in frozen water pipes and main breaks.”

In a recent interview DPW Director Scott Thornhill said his department has thawed more 60 frozen pipes and has also been repairing broken waterlines caused by the frigid temperatures.

“Ogdensburg City Council believes it is very important to recognize the exceptional work for the dedicated DPW staff,” the resolution says. “City Council hereby publically thanks the entire DPW team for being responsive and dedicated to the needs of Ogdensburg residents this winter season.”
